1. What is the Plant Programme in a nutshell?
The Plant Programme comprises science based dietary and lifestyle factors to complement conventional medical cancer treatment. The food factors aim to remove foods implicated in causing or promoting cancer and show you how to add foods known to prevent cancer into your diet. The lifestyle factors help to reduce or remove other factors implicated in cancer including stress and exposure to harmful chemicals in the home or environment. The Plant Programme also helps to achieve the right acid / alkaline balance in your body, helping against cancer as well as other diseases including osteoporosis.

2. Is it one of those extreme programmes that are difficult to follow whilst living a normal life?
It is definitely not an extreme programme and it does not involve uncomfortable intrusive treatments such as enemas. It is science based and concerned with what we eat and the quality of what we eat with no overuse of manmade vitamins and supplements. The life style factors are also based on up to date science.

3. How tough is it to follow the Plant Programme in practice?
It depends very much where you start from - if you are already on a vegan or vegetarian diet with lots of freshly made meals and drinks it should not be difficult. If however, you live on takeaways and ready made meals you will need to make significant changes.
The Plant Programme book provides a sound basis for making these changes and our web pages on dietary factors will help to guide you through. We emphasise that Plant Programme food is delicious as well as being healthy and nutritious - it is not bland boring food like some other anti-cancer diets. Many followers find the Plant Programme gives them a new much better way of life that makes them look and feel better.

4. How Successful is the Plant Programme?
We do not have any statistics although we are aware of many many people who have reported success from all over the world. There are 20 success stories in the new edition of "Your life in Your Hands" published in June 2006, there are 3 more on the website and we know of many many more. We hope the forum on this website will provide an opportunity for people to share their experiences.

9. Can I use the Programme instead of conventional treatments such as surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy?
No, the Programme is designed to complement conventional medicine. Evidence suggests making diet and lifestyle changes is just as important for people with cancer as it is for people with heart disease and diabetes

10. Can I go back to my normal diet and former lifestyle if the cancer is cleared?
We are aware of recurrences of cancer in people who have abandoned the Plant Programme (a celebratory world cruise and I am back to work and far too busy now syndrome). But once you have been clear of cancer for a period of time (usually 6 months to a year) - you can use the less rigorous Plant Programme designed for cancer prevention.

11. How can you recommend a diet and lifestyle when the whole situation is so confusing - one expert recommends one thing and another says the opposite?
The situation is often confusing because scientists can be funded by vested interest groups and or companies. Then find in favour of the products or services. Our advice is different because it is based on the peer reviewed scientific literature and it is independent. The problems caused by privatisation of science are considered in both "Your Life in Yours Hands" and the "Prostate Cancer Book". They are summed up by the following comment from one of Britain's leading journalist.
"Academics and the media have failed dismally to ask the crucial question of scientists' claims: Who is paying you?": George Monbiot - The Guardian 7th February, 2006

12. I have read Jane's books why do I need to belong to Cancer Support?
The science changes almost daily and it is difficult to ensure the books keep up with this. This website will provide up to date information and you will also have the benefit of a newsletter and a forum to exchange ideas and experiences. There will also be stories from those who have used the Programme successfully to treat their cancer. And much much more.
